- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Emma Craig -- THE book for ADHD parents! : What really stood out for me about this book was the positivity. Dealing with a child with an ADHD diagnosis can be frustrating, but I would close this book feeling encouraged every time. I loved the emphasis on recognizing your child's strengths (the learning styles section was something I showed to our 10 year old!) and the accounts of people who have struggled with ADHD but used the positives to great success (Justin Timberlake?!). I've read several books on ADHD, but this one is the first that I would recommend as a must-read. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2019 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Shawn Post -- As Good As It Gets: Pathways to Success for Children with ADHD! : As an Education professor and a licensed school psychologist, I was so impressed with the authors' strategic methods for raising a child diagnosed with ADHD. The text speaks to parents, teachers and professionals by emphasizing that if you don't try something different, there will be no substantial change for the better. Empowering techniques to deal with topics such as promoting emotional stability and equilibrium in children diagnosed with ADHD through improving the habits which lead to sound decision-making are but a few of the many techniques discussed in Forgan and Richey's book. This comprehensive text includes the assessments and resources needed for parents to become proactive in dealing with their children through identifying the strengths and talents essential to empowering their sons and daughters in leading them to pathways for their own success. Relevant for parents and educators alike, I highly recommend The ADHD Empowerment Guide to anyone who aspires to influence the life of a child with ADHD. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Elaine TK -- They Get it! : There are a lot of resources on ADHD for parents, but not all of them are written by professionals who have also lived the life -- and that truly makes all the difference. This book is not a theoretical textbook or a recitation of the prevailing professional advice -- it is positive and practical, and it's real. As parents, your role is an essential part of treatment for your child's ADHD. This book will start you on your journey to realizing your full potential as the parent to kids with ADHD -- and your child's full potential as a result.
